Bulk Gravel Delivered to Edmonton
Gravel can mean very different materials. Devonian’s current gravel category includes 20mm Road Crush Gravel, 20mm Washed Rock, 14mm Pea Gravel, 7mm Rock Chip and 20mm Recycled Asphalt. Each is selected for a different job. Choosing gravel by its purpose—compaction, drainage, a finished surface, traction or utility use—is the fastest way to avoid ordering the wrong material.
Choose road crush for a compactable base
Road crush is the practical choice to consider for driveways, parking areas, shed pads and other projects that need a compactable aggregate layer. Its range of particle sizes and fine material is what helps it bind when installed and compacted correctly. It is not the same as washed rock, and it should be installed as part of a properly prepared base system.
Choose washed rock where drainage is the priority
Washed rock has less fine material and is selected where the design needs water to move through the stone. It can be used in specified drainage and backfill applications, but the size, placement and any fabric or pipe detail should match the actual project. For foundation or retaining-wall drainage, follow the project specification.
Choose pea gravel, rock chip or recycled asphalt for their specific finish
Pea gravel is a rounded material often considered for a softer-looking landscape or loose-surface application. Rock chip is angular and gives a different texture and traction underfoot. Recycled asphalt is a separate utility-surface option. Compare the actual product, intended use and maintenance needs before deciding which one belongs on a path, parking area or visible finish.
Measure before delivery
Use the material calculator for a volume estimate, but first make sure you are using the depth and product appropriate to the job. Account for the planned layers, shape of the area and compaction where applicable. If you are unsure whether you need road crush, washed rock or a finished gravel, call or text the yard before ordering.
For Contractors
Carry base, drainage and finish gravel as separate items in the estimate. Confirm the exact material against the scope, then provide job-site access, the placement area and required volume when arranging delivery across Edmonton. The 24-hour delivery guarantee helps keep material planning predictable, but it does not replace a proper site-access and staging plan.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between road crush and washed rock?
Road crush includes fine material and is intended to compact. Washed rock has less fine material and is selected where a drainage application calls for open spaces between the stone.
What gravel should I use for a driveway?
Choose a material intended for the required base and traffic conditions. A driveway is a system: site preparation, grade, base thickness, compaction and any finished surface all matter.
Can I put gravel straight over grass or topsoil?
A lasting project needs proper preparation. Remove unsuitable organic material and follow the build-up required for the intended use instead of placing gravel directly on an unprepared surface.
How much gravel do I need?
Measure length, width and planned depth, then use the calculator. Final quantity can vary with material, grade and compaction, so call or text if you would like the yard to review the order.
